Arrest made in a shooting death case in Platte County

PLATTE COUNTY, MO – A man has been arrested as part of an investigation into a Platte County shooting death.

 

The Prosecuting Attorney filed charges Friday against Coty Borst, 26, of Shawnee Mission. He is accused in the death of Jacob Stowers, 25, at Houston Lake. Borst was found hiding in a creek bed near the scene of the crime. He is held in lieu of $150,000 bond.

Out-of-state teenager arrested in Cass County after fleeing from troopers

CASS COUNTY, Mo.- An out-of-state resident was apprehended by Troop A of the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County following an alleged vehicle pursuit.

At approximately 2:43 a.m., Tyler Morris, 19, of Rock Falls, Illinois, was cited for felony resisting/evading arrest, felony tampering with a motor vehicle and misdemeanor charges of no valid license, exceeding posted speed limit and failure to stop at a posted stop sign.

Morris was transported to the Cass County Jail and placed on a 24 hour hold. Charges will be forwarded to Cass County Prosecuting Attorney for consideration.

Lexington woman facing drug allegations in Lafayette County

LAFAYETTE COUNTY, Mo. — Troop A of the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested a woman in Lafayette County early Saturday morning.

At 2:50 a.m. Sunday, 35-year-old Britney S. Lockhart, of Lexington was arrested and preliminarily charged with felony possession of a controlled substance – prescription pills.

Lockhart was arrested and released on a summons.

Formal charges are currently pending. Future court dates have not been set.

Monroe County officers make drug arrest in Stoutsville

STOUTSVILLE, MO – Early this past weekend, the Monroe County Sheriff made arrests during the execution of a narcotics search warrant.

According to the County Sheriff, the warrant was issued Friday evening at 22807 CR 543 in Stoutsville. Officers seized methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and six firearms. A Stoutsville resident, Lee Walkup, 41, was taken into custody. He is held in lieu of $75,000 bond in Monroe County Jail.

Ozark man jailed after rollover crash Sunday evening in Lafayette County

LAFAYETTE COUNTY, Mo. — A driver from Ozark was injured and jailed after an accident in Lafayette County Sunday evening.

The Missouri Highway Patrol was called to Route PP, north of Brackman Road around 7:35 p.m. to reports of a crash involving a single sport-utility vehicle.

Wannis D. Widner, 46 was southbound when his SUV ran off the side of the road, hit a ditch and rolled over.

Widner received minor injuries and was initially taken to Lafayette Regional Hospital to be treated.

He was arrested just minutes later and preliminarily charged with felonies for resisting arrest by eluding, tampering with evidence and possession of a controlled substance.

Widner is also accused of speeding, careless and imprudent driving resulting in an accident as well as other traffic infractions.

He remains at the Lafayette County Jail on an investigative hold. Formal charges have not yet been filed.

Holden man arrested by narcotics detectives on multiple active warrants

JOHNSON COUNTY, Mo.- Narcotics detectives with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Holden, Mo., man last week wanted on multiple active warrants.

According to a release, on June 21, 2018, detectives arrested Timothy Eugene Long, 45, in the 1600 block of SW 58 Highway in Holden. Long is wanted on four Johnson County traffic violation warrants with a total bond of $600, a failure to appear warrant for obstruction and a felony failure to appear for possessing amphetamine both out of Jackson County. Bond in Jackson County was set at $41,160.

Future court dates are pending.

Manslaughter case continued in Ray County

RICHMOND, MO – A Wellington man accused of manslaughter is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Tuesday afternoon in Ray County.

 

Felonies for assault and involuntary manslaughter are listed against Anthony Huffman, 26, who is thought to be responsible for the death of Jesse Lee, 99, during a two vehicle crash on Ike Skelton Bridge, February 2017.

The court is delaying response on a motion to revoke bond in the case. The hearing Tuesday is scheduled for 2 p.m.

Pleasant Hill man facing multiple felony allegations after arrest in Cass County

CASS COUNTY, Mo.- A Pleasant Hill man is in custody on multiple felony allegations following his arrest this morning in Cass County.

According to the filed arrest report from Troop A of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Coleton J. Parris, 23, was cited for tampering with a motor vehicle, felony leaving the scene of an accident and second degree assault. The incident was not further explained in the arrest report.

Parris was transported to the Cass County Jail and placed on a 24 hour hold. Charges will be forwarded to the Cass County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for consideration.

Boonville woman held on molestation allegations

COOPER COUNTY, Mo. – A search warrant executed early Tuesday morning, led to the arrest of a suspected child molester in Boonville.

Cooper County deputies and the Missouri Highway Patrol conducted a search based on illegal contact reported between the resident and underage children in Boonville. The Cooper County Sheriff facebook post says Brady S. Anton, 49, was arrested on a grand jury indictment charging her with three counts of statutory sodomy-deviate sexual intercourse in the first degree, two counts of child molestation in the first degree and two counts of enticement of a child for incidents that occurred between 2010 and 2013. Bond is set at $150,000 cash or surety.

No court date has yet been listed.

Sedalia man arraigned for attempted delivery of drugs to jail

SEDALIA, MO – A Sedalia resident has been charged with conspiracy to deliver contraband into the Pettis County Jail.

An arraignment hearing took place Wednesday for Austin M tinker who is accused of felonies for attempting to deliver marijuana into a jail, and delivery or possession of a weapon. According to a probable cause statement, an investigation begun June 15 by Pettis County deputies reviewed phone recordings of conversations between Tinker, and an inmate, Henry Ward, who is in custody for robbery and assault. The statement indicates Ward planned to stage accidental falls for which he would be taken to Bothwell Hospital. Tinker would then plant the contraband in the jail transport vehicle. Tinker was apprehended near the Bothwell emergency room by deputies who confiscated marijuana, tobacco, and a lighter.

Continuance of the case is scheduled for July 3. Bond is set at $25,000.

Troopers make drug arrest in Carroll County

CARROLL COUNTY, MO – A Kansas City man was arrested by highway patrol Wednesday morning in Carroll County for suspected drug possession.

An arrest report says, Donald L. Smith, 29, was taken to the Chariton County Jail for felony possession of methamphetamine, and marijuana. Warrants were outstanding from Clay County. He was also informally charged with driving while suspended, no plates, and no seatbelt.

Cooper County traffic stop results in slew of felony allegations

COOPER COUNTY, Mo. — Two people were detained on multiple drug allegations in Cooper County Wednesday afternoon.

The Highway Patrol reported stopping a vehicle around 2:04 p.m. Wednesday in Cooper County and finding drugs in the possession of the driver an an occupant.

39-year-old St. Louis resident Christan D. Hansen faces felony allegations of fleeing arrest, resisting arrest, possession of methamphetamine and driving while revoked. He was also wanted on a felony warrant from the board of probation and parole for a probation violation.

A passenger, 24-year-old Independence resident Jennifer N. Wesson is preliminarily charged with felony possession of both methamphetamine and clonazepam pills. In addition, she faces missdemeanor allegations of possession of less than 10 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Hansen was transferred to the Cooper County Jail for a 24-hour investigative hold, while Wesson was released to an area hospital for medical attention.

Formal charges are currently pending.

Higginsville PD investigation leads to drug arrests

HIGGINSVILLE, MO – Arraignment took place Thursday in Lexington for multiple suspects in a drug distribution case.

According to Higginsville Police, a traffic stop Tuesday at 26th and Elm led to several drug arrests, and formal charges.

During a stop Tuesday, officers made contact with Opal Fizer, 25 who was found to be in possession of methamphetamine, according to a probable cause statement.

During a follow-up investigation regarding the suspected source of the drugs, officers called at a residence on 301 Fairground, where Bates City resident, Annie Fox, 22, was arrested.

Also detained during the investigation was Leon Burbanks, 58. All are charged in court records with felonies for methamphetamine possession or distribution.

Future court dates are set for July 18.

Arrest of murder suspect in Warrensburg

WARRENSBURG, MO – Charges dated from Monday include murder and armed criminal action against an Independence man apprehended in Johnson County.

The Sheriff’s Department and Warrensburg Police assisted other agencies Thursday in the arrest of Nathan L. Ayers, 28. He was wanted for the fatal shooting this week of Angela Green in Independence. The search warrant was executed in the 500 block of SE 13 Highway.

Bond has been set at $500,000. Future court dates are pending.

Suspected burglar to appear in Dekalb County Friday

DEKALB COUNTY, Mo. – A woman from Hannibal has a preliminary hearing this morning on felony charges filed in Dekalb County.

Stacey Coslow, 28, and a co-defendant, Michael Foulks, 33, were arrested in Cameron the night of May 14, after she gave deputies a fake identification during a suspicious vehicle check. A white powder and paraphernalia was seized during the arrest. Coslow is charged with felony counts of possession of burglary tools and stealing $750.00 or more.

Authorities say Coslow and Foulks are also suspects in a residential burglary in Illinois.

Higbee man arrested for leaving scene of crash

RANDOLPH COUNTY, MO – An afternoon arrest by state troopers led to the incarceration of a Higbee man Friday afternoon in lieu of bond.

 

The jail in Randolph County received Timothy Craig, 42, who is accused of leaving the scene of an accident. He is also suspected of failure to register a vehicle, operating without financial responsibility, and failure to drive on the appropriate half of the roadway.

Troopers cite drug possession as cause for arrest of Hardin man

RAY COUNTY, MO – A Hardin man was taken into custody Friday afternoon on suspicion of drug possession.

Missouri Highway Patrol arrested Christian Sharp, 21, for controlled substance possession with intent to distribute. additional charges included drug paraphernalia possession, speeding, and registration violation. Sharp was taken to Ray County Jail for further investigation.

Marceline couple charged in molestation case

MARCELINE, MO – Warrants were issued Thursday for a Marceline couple accused in a child molestation case.

Court records indicate James Thurston, 39, is charged with two counts of 3rd degree molestation involving a child less than 14 years of age. A probable cause statement indicates Thurston is accused of inappropriate touching on two occasions in mid-June in Marceline. Bond is set at $50,000. Thurston’s wife, Jeannie Thurston, a licensed child counselor, is also charged with failure to report child abuse, and tampering with the victim in a felony prosecution. Her bond is $5,000.

Future court dates have not been set.

Driver injured in crash later arrested in related death

JOHNSON COUNTY, MO – A collision Friday morning in Johnson county resulted in fatal injuries for a resident of Windsor.

A vehicle driven by Susan Price, 63, was eastbound on 50 Highway at 1751 Road when it was struck from behind by a second car. Both vehicles slid out of control off the right side of the roadway and went airborne, striking trees before coming to rest. Price was pronounced dead after the crash. Occupants in the other vehicle, Garry Corbin, and Manuel Huerta, were hospitalized for minor injuries. Corbin was later cited in an arrest report for driving while intoxicated involving the death of a person, no seatbelt, and no insurance. Corbin was released after the arrest.

Formal charges are pending.

Dekalb County case moving to Circuit Court after hearing Friday

DEKALB COUNTY, Mo. – A Hannibal woman will make her next criminal appearance in Dekalb County, in front of the circuit judge.

After a preliminary hearing Friday morning, the associate judge found that there was probable cause for Stacey Coslow, 28, to be bound over to the upper court. Coslow was charged with possession of burglary tools and stealing over $750.00 after her arrest in Cameron in May of this year. Coslow and a co-defendant, were arrested after she gave officers a fake identification during a suspicious vehicle check at a local business.

It was later determined that Coslow and Michael Foulks, 33, of Hannibal, were suspected in a residential burglary in Illinois.
