Kidnapping, assault case in Carroll County continues

CARROLLTON, MO – A hearing Tuesday morning continues a Carroll County assault case.

The hearing today was rescheduled from May in the case against Devon Wright, 18, and Justus Webb, 20. They are each accused of beating a kidnapped victim, and leaving him for dead, according to a probable cause statement. In addition to the assault charge, injurious kidnapping, terrorizing, and armed criminal action are felonies being considered.

A motion for change of venue was recently agreed to by parties. The hearing today is at 9 a.m.

Burglary case out of Odessa resumes

LAFAYETTE COUNTY, MO – Two Camdenton residents continue a burglary case out of Odessa tomorrow morning.

A probable cause statement suggests, Shannon Monahan, 37, and Jonathon Reberry, 34, committed burglary at a property on Old 40 Highway in Odessa, April this year. Property reported stolen was recovered during an investigation and valued over $1,000. A hearing tomorrow morning is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. for both defendants.

Reberry was released an own recognizance bond over the weekend, June 9.

Two deputies received minor injuries from escaping suspect

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – One deputy was punched in the face and another hit with a car, as a wanted man fled from an arrest in St. Joseph Wednesday afternoon.

The Buchanan County Sheriff said that investigators with the drug task force approached Jason Lee Roberts, 34, at a Casey’s store yesterday. Roberts has an active felony warrant and is the subject of an ongoing criminal investigation. As the officers attempted to arrest Roberts, he knocked one deputy down and ran to a nearby vehicle. As he sped away, the second deputy was hit and a Drug Task Force car rammed.

Authorities are asking for the public to assist with any information they have about this individual.

Convicted sex offender arrested in Johnson County for failure to register among other warrants

WARRENSBURG, Mo.- A convicted sex offender was arrested in Warrensurg, Mo., yesterday by Johnson County Sheriff’s deputies on a total of seven warrants.

According to a post on the Johnson County Sheriff Facebook page, John Landers Jr., 35, was arrested in the 100 block of SE 125 Road on four warrants out of Jackson County for failing to register as a sex offender with a total bond of $4,000 cash-only.

Landers Jr., was also wanted on three warrants out of Lee’s Summit for multiple driving infractions and a misdemeanor drug paraphernalia.

Drug allegations levied against out-of-state subjects in Cooper County

COOPER COUNTY, Mo. — Two residents from outside Missouri are in custody, accused of drug distribution in Cooper County.

The Missouri Highway Patrol arrest reports say that 52-year-old Detoncia B. Wilkinson, of Atlanta, Ga., and 35-year-old Kevin W. Wilkinson Jr., of Nashville, Tn., face accusations of felony distribution of a controlled substance and misdemeanor unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

After being taken into custody around 10:00 p.m. Thursday, they were held at the Cooper County Jail until both subjects could post bond.

A request for formal charges will be sent to the Cooper County Prosecuting attorney for review.

A man who hit deputies with a vehicle is jailed in Buchanan County.

BUCHANAN COUNTY, Mo. – A man who assaulted two deputies during an attempted arrest in St. Joseph, was taken into custody Friday night.

Jason Roberts, 35, of St. Joseph, reportedly struck the deputies with a vehicle and rammed a patrol car Wednesday, before he drove away from a Casey’s parking lot. The officers were trying to serve outstanding felony warrants for Roberts.

The St. Joseph Police Department and Buchanan County Drug Strike Force worked with Buchanan County to locate Roberts around 11:00 Friday night.

Felony drug charge possible for Lathrop resident following Highway Patrol arrest

DEKALB COUNTY, Mo. — An arrest in DeKalb County at 3:18 a.m. Sunday left a Lathrop resident facing a possible felony, in addition to another drug-related crime.

According to Missouri Highway Patrol’s arrest report, Sarah Heller, 44, was arrested and charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession drug paraphernalia.
Heller was transported to Daviess Dekalb Regional Jail, where she was placed on a 24-hour hold.

Murder suspect scheduled for arraignment in Cass County

CASS COUNTY, MO – An arraignment is scheduled for a Kansas City man accused of murder.

An arraignment in Cass County is still scheduled for 30 year old Kylr Yust, who is charged with two counts of first degree murder, and two counts of abandonment of a corpse. Yust is believed to be responsible for the deaths of Kara Kopetsky and Jessica Runions whose remains were found together in a wooded area in Cass County in August, last year.

Arraignment takes place Monday morning at 9 a.m.

Odessa burglary case closed

LEXINGTON, MO – The jury trial scheduled for a Kansas City resident accused of an Odessa burglary has been cancelled after a plea was re-entered in the case Monday.

According to court documents, Nick Cuezze, 53, entered a guilty plea to charges including burglary, theft or stealing, tampering with a motor vehicle, and resisting arrest. Cuezze reportedly set off an intruder alarm at an Odessa residence, November 2015, before leading police on a vehicle chase that led to his arrest.

He was sentenced to 15 years incarceration.

Burglary suspect in Lafayette County again wanted on bond

LEXINGTON, MO – A warrant has been issued for the suspect in a burglary case out of Lafayette County.

The defendant, Jonathon Reberry, 34, failed to appear in court last Wednesday for a hearing. The warrant was formally issued Monday, and bond was re-established at $15,000. Reberry is suspected of a burglary near Odessa that reportedly occurred in April this year.

Other charges include stealing, and drug possession.

Carrollton man accused of manslaughter posts bond

CARROLLTON, Mo. — A Carrollton man accused of involuntary manslaughter posted bond Monday, according to court records.

The defendant in the case, Blake Wilson, 20 is charged in the deaths of Teagan Birdno, 19 and Matthew Landi, 21 who died as the result of a rollover crash on Route CC in Carroll County December 23, 2017.

Wilson was the driver of the vehicle, which had allegedly been traveling over 115 miles per hour prior to the crash.

Wilson posted 10 percent of the $20,000 bond, according to a court listing filed Monday in Carroll County.

California man held on drug, weapon allegations in Saline County

SALINE COUNTY, Mo. — An out-of-state resident is behind bars and awaiting charges after allegedly being caught with drugs and a weapon in Saline County Monday evening.

The Missouri Highway Patrol report indicates that 20-year-old Eduardo Garcia, of San Bernardino, Ca., was detained in Saline County around 8:02 p.m. Monday.

Garcia was arrested and preliminarily charged with felony possession of cocaine, felony unlawful possession of a firearm as well as felony receiving stolen property.

Garcia was transferred to the Saline County Jail, where he was placed on a 24-hour investigative hold. Formal charges have not yet been filed.

Two arrested in Livingston County drug investigation to appear in court Wednesday

LIVINGSTON COUNTY, Mo. — Two setting of preliminary hearings are scheduled to take place in Livingston County at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday.

Rodney Lyndale Henderson, 47 and Mandy Jo Stover, 34 will appear on felony charges of delivery of a controlled substance, filed by Chillicothe Police after their arrests earlier this month.

On June 12, both were taken into custody after a search warrant for drugs was executed at their Polk Street residence in Chillicothe.

Both are currently held at the Daviess-Dekalb Regional Jail in lieu of bond.

Washington state resident detained in Lafayette County on drug and weapon allegations

LAFAYETTE COUNTY, Mo. — A man from the State of Washington was jailed on felony allegations after being arrested Tuesday night in Lafayette County.

The Missouri Highway Patrol arrest report alleges that drugs and a weapon were seized by a state trooper just before 10:00 p.m. Tuesday.

The suspect, Denny D. Buth, 27, of Tacoma, Wa. was taken into custody for felony possession of a controlled substance and unlawful use of a weapon.

Buth remains on a 24-hour hold at the Lafayette County Jail. Formal charges have not yet been filed.

Troop A of the MSHP arrests two Lexington residents on active felony warrants

RAY COUNTY, Mo.- The Missouri State Highway Patrol apprehended two Lexington, Mo., residents, early this morning both wanted on active felony warrants from the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department.

According to the filed arrest reports, at approximately 12:07 a.m., Christopher Dejonge, was taken into custody and cited for felony possession of a controlled substance and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. Minutes later, Meagan Arbogast, 35, was cited for possession of marijuana and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.

Both were transported to the Ray County Jail with the option. Charges will be forwarded to the prosecuting attorney for consideration.

Livingston County law enforcement seeking suspect wanted for molestation

CHILLICOTHE, MO – A warrant was issued today for a Chillicothe man wanted for child molestation allegations.

Law enforcement is searching for James T. Moss, 35, who is now charged with three counts of molestation. The most recent count is alleged to have taken place June of last year. Two counts are from January 2011.

Bond is currently set at $25,000.

Illegal drug possession charges considered for Queen City woman

RANDOLPH COUNTY, MO – A resident of Queen City was arrested in Randolph County this afternoon.

Missouri Highway Patrol took into custody Carmen Hamilton, 42, on suspicion of illegal possession of drugs. She was found with controlled substances, Adderall, and Oxycodone. A felony warrant for burglary was also issued for Hamilton out of Schuyler County.

She was taken to Randolph County Jail in lieu of bond.

Ferrelview public official arrested for corruption charges

FERRELVIEW, MO – A public official in Platte County has been arrested

for corruption charges.

 

Prosecutors charged Russell Wilson, 52, who was a member of the Ferrelview Board of Trustees, with stealing. Wilson allegedly bought a vehicle with public funds for substantially less than the bid which was submitted. he also had the vehicle registration signed in his name. If convicted of the charge, Wilson could be sentenced up to four years in prison. Bond is set at $15,000.

Richmond resident allegedly found with drugs during traffic stop Thursday

RAY COUNTY, Mo. — Formal charges will be sought against a Richmond man arrested on a couple of felony drug allegations Thursday night.

The report says a trooper in Ray County stopped 40-year-old Jason C. Richardson around 11:27 p.m. Thursday.

Along with a citation for allegedly not wearing a seat belt, Richardson faces accusations of felony possession of methamphetamine, felony possession of prescription pills, possession of marijuana and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Richardson remains on a 24-hour investigative hold at the Ray County Jail.

Sentencing carried out for man accused of assault

LAFAYETTE COUNTY, MO – A Kansas City man was sentenced this week to 20 years in prison for his involvement in a high speed chase from February 2016.

In a press release today, the Lafayette County prosecutor says 39 year old Andre Turner was sentenced to 20 years for assault on law enforcement, armed criminal action, and leaving the scene of a crash. According to the statement, Turner led law enforcement on a dangerous chase that began in Odessa, and involved a state trooper being forced off the roadway by the offending vehicle.
