LIVINGSTON COUNTY, Mo. — The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office reported arresting a man after deputies were called to an alleged assault in Ludlow.

Alfred K. Hyatt, Jr. (Livingston County Sheriff’s Office)

According to a press release, officers responded to a residence in Ludlow at about 6:17 p.m. Thursday. An investigation found that a mentally disabled man was at home with his mother’s boyfriend, identified as 57-year-old Alfred K. Hyatt, Jr., of Ludlow, when the two began to argue.

Hyatt allegedly used a racial slur during the argument, which led to the victim throwing a punch at Hyatt. Hyatt then allegedly took a pot of boiling water from the stove and splashed the scalding liquid onto the victim.

The victim received at least second degree burns and was taken to Hedrick Medical Center before being transferred to the KU Medical Center Burn Unit.

Hyatt is now charged with second degree assault. He is currently in custody at the Daviess Dekalb Regional Jail.
