CLINTON COUNTY, Mo. — An accident in the northbound lanes of Interstate 35 injured five and resulted in citations for the vehicle’s driver.
A report from the Missouri Highway Patrol indicates the accident occurred on I-35 at the 42 mile marker roughly two miles northeast of Lathrop at about 10:15 p.m. Monday.
A car driven by Zion, Illinois resident Tracy W. Pennell, 47, lost a wheel, causing the Pennell to lose control of the vehicle.
The car ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a guardrail before traveling back onto the interstate where it came to rest blocking the northbound driving lane.
Pennell and his 28-year-old wife Rebecca received minor injuries, as did their three-year-old daughters, Patience, Paradise and Harmonie. All five were treated at Cameron Regional Medical Center.
Tracy Pennell was cited for not having a valid operators license or insurance. He was also reportedly in violation of an adult protection order from Lake County, Illinois. He was taken to the Clinton County Jail for a 24-hour hold.
