TIPTON, Mo.- The Moniteau County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Tipton, Mo., man following reports of a burglary last Thursday, September 21, 2017.
According to the report, deputies were called to a report of a burglary from a residence in Tipton. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the family of a recently deceased relative who wanted to report that someone had gone out to the residence located on Seed House Road and removed several items.
The family then stated that they believe they had located some of the items for sale on Facebook. Deputies were able to track the Facebook post to a local resident and made contact. Upon contact with the suspect, identified as Brian R. Smith, deputies located the items reported as stolen from the residence.
Smith was transported to the Montieau County Jail for booking and the investigation remains ongoing. The release states that a second arrest is expected and all items were recovered and returned back to the family. Smith remains in custody on a $50,000 bond with court dates currently pending.
