SEDALIA, MO – Pettis County authorities have released the identity of the man who died from a shooting outside Sedalia Thursday afternoon. The victim, Leon Hinckley, 28, of Windsor, was the subject of an autopsy by the Boone County Medical Examiner. The details of that autopsy are currently not available. Pettis County deputies are continuing to follow leads in the case. Pettis County Crime Stoppers is also offering $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest of the persons involved in the crime. Pettis County Coroner Robert “Skip” Smith released the identity of the victim . Thursday night, investigators returned and processed a 2012 Chevrolet Impala recovered in Lexington earlier that afternoon. The vehicle, which was reported stolen by its owner from inside Sedalia, is believed to have been used in the incident.
An autopsy was conducted Friday morning by the Boone County Medical Examiner’s Office in Columbia. Deputies have interviewed a number of witnesses and continue to follow-up on leads in the case.
Pettis County Sheriff Kevin Bond stated that neither the victim nor the two suspects, a white male and a black male, resided at the residence where the shooting occurred. It is believed both suspects have fled the area and are no longer in Sedalia or Pettis County.
