LAFAYETTE COUNTY, MO – A man who admitted to assault on a law enforcement officer has been sentenced to a total of 22 years in Department of Corrections.
State troopers in May of 2016, confiscated a stolen firearm and marijuana from the suspect. A struggle in the morning hours of May 7 on I-70 in Lafayette County, ended with the arrest of Deontrey Jones, 22, of Kansas City.
County prosecutor, Kristen Hillbrenner, said the suspect had no prior criminal history. She says, the incident should have been a simple traffic stop, but a man will be sent to prison because he “attempted to draw a firearm on a trooper for no good reason.”
