KEARNEY, MO – A traffic stop in Kearney reportedly led to a manhunt after a woman managed to slip out of handcuffs while being transported to a detention center.
According to St. Joseph News Press, the incident happened July 4 at Route 33 and 1st Street as police apprehended Coryn Killinger of Creighton on warrants. Police say Killinger claimed to be unwell and overheated during transport to the jail, prompting the officer to lower the window. Killinger, having slipped out of the handcuffs, was then able to utilize the open window to open the door from the outside, and escaped on foot.
An hours-long search was unable to locate the subject. As of July 7 Killinger was still at large.
