A person is shot after a Juneteenth celebration at a Columbia park in Columbia MO.

Columbia, MO – A person is shot after a Juneteenth celebration at a Columbia park last night.

Columbia Police said 19-year-old Gerrod Taylor shot a 33-year-old man in the leg around 9:00 p.m. Friday at the Douglas Park in the 400 block of Providence Road. The shooting happened near the basketball courts where a large number of people were gathered.

The shooting reportedly occurred after the celebration ended. Officers transported the victim to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Taylor was later arrested and is being charged with unlawful use of a weapon, assault in the first-degree, and armed criminal action. He is currently being held in the Boone County Adult Detention Center.
