COLUMBIA, Mo. — Boone County authorities are reporting the arrest of a Columbia man after being dispatched for a kidnapping call.
On Tuesday, around 2:30 p.m., at Boone County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived at Creasy Springs Road and learned that a unidentified male subject had assaulted a female and forced her into a vehicle.
Witness statements also indicated the female was screaming for help. The Columbia Police soon located the suspect vehicle and the sole occupant was the female, who reportedly had visible injuries.
Units observed the suspect vehicle later, a black Toyota Camry, traveling southbound on the Highway 63 and failed to yield to police, leading to a pursuit.
The car came to a stop after the pursuit and both occupants were taken into custody. 26-year-old Rodney R. Kemp was arrested for resisting arrest, leaving the scene of an accident, delivery of a controlled substance and a misdemeanor.
Kemp has since been released.
The assault is still under investigation.
