MONITEAU COUNTY, Mo. – A Jamestown, Mo. Man is in the Moniteau Co. Jail on a murder allegation involving a two-and-a-half month old child.
Sergeant Shawn Griggs, Division of Drug and Crime Control with the Missouri State Highway Patrol spoke with KMZU’s Mike Stone about the investigation so far.
Court records indicate that Christopher Cody Buxton, 30, was arrested August 3, 2016, by Missouri State Highway Patrol authorities and charged with 2nd Degree Murder.
According to official statements Buxton was taking care of his child, Kyler Buxton, and took him to Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Columbia, Mo. on July 29. Doctors said the child had shallow breathing and were told by the elder Buxton the child appeared to be having a seizure.
Kyler died July 30 due to “non-accidental trauma.” Christopher Buxton was arrested at his home Wednesday. He denies the injuries were caused by him. KMIZ-TV 17 News reports text messages on his wife’s phone indicate he was upset with having to watch the child and the baby would not stop crying.
Doctors say the child had several broken bones and internal bleeding which is consistent with a child being shaken.
Buxton is currently being held without bond and a court date is not yet scheduled.
