KANSAS CITY, MO – A naturalized U.S. citizen originally from Ghana, was indicted this week in Missouri for an alleged fraud scheme perpetrated on residents of Missouri, and other states.
A news release from the Western Missouri district prosecutor, Virginia resident, 33, Henry Asomani was charged Tuesday with a wire fraud conspiracy that affected 13 victims using online dating platforms, such as ChristianMingle.com. The victims were convinced by co-conspirators to invest in various overseas businesses with the promise of a return on the investment. Asomani received the money for these intended investments that amounted to nearly $3 million from victims around the U.S, including three in the Kansas City area.
