Douglas Steven Coin (Livingston County Sheriff’s)
CHILLICOTHE, Mo- A Wheeling, Mo., man was apprehended early this morning by Livingston County law enforcement on attempted burglary allegations.
According to a release from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, Douglas Steven Coin, 34, was allegedly seen entering private property by a resident around 6:00 a.m., on LIV 251 north of Route V. The property owner attempted to confront Coin but he quickly fled in a small pickup and a chase ensued. The property owner then called dispatch to report the event and notified authorities that Coin’s vehicle was last seen near Ryan Lane and Mitchell Road in Chillicothe.
Chillicothe Police and Livingston County deputies responded to the scene along with K-9 Zaki for further investigation into the attempted burglary. K-9 Zaki quickly began tracking Coin who was believed to be on foot due to his vehicle becoming disabled. Coin was ultimately found unarmed and offered no resistance in being taken into custody. He was arrested on preliminary charges of attempted burglary, an additional identified burglary charge and alleged felony driving while revoked.
Coin was transported to the Daviess DeKalb Regional Jail pending formal charges. He is currently on parole in Missouri for a felony conviction of tampering with a motor vehicle. Potential parole warrants could also be filed.
