CALLAWAY COUNTY, Mo. — A traffic stop led to the arrest of a Mexico man on Monday.

According to a probable cause statement, a Trooper with the Missouri State Highway Patrol pulled over a Chevrolet S-10 after seeing that one of the headlights was not working. The trooper attempted to pull over the vehicle when a container was thrown from the passenger side window and landed in a ditch.

After detaining two people from the vehicle, 29 year old Johnnie Schultz and a passenger, the trooper found the container that was thrown from the vehicle. It was identified as methamphetamine in an ice cream container.

Several manufacturing and paraphernalia items were in plain view as well as a strong smell of anhydrous ammonia.

Schultz was arrested and charged with felony manufacturing of a controlled substance, felony possession of a controlled substance, felony possession of methamphetamine precursors, two other felony charges and three misdemeanor charges.

The passenger in the vehicle was released at the scene and no court dates have been set at this time.
