Response to Marshall fire culminates with arrest of teen

MARSHALL, Mo – Reports were received Wednesday night, September 7, of a structure fire in Marshall during the 7 p.m. hour.

According to a press release by Marshall Police, officers responded to 1126 E. Highway WW at the Tom Butterfield Campus of Butterfield Youth Services in Marshall.  One resident, Precious Shanae Temple. 17, admitted to starting a fire in the facility.  It was contained to one room, where notebook papers and a lighter had been used to ignite the fire.  She reportedly told officers she wanted to help her friends escape the campus, and be near her brother in jail.

A probable cause statement has been formulated.   Temple has been formally charged with 1st degree arson, and endangering the welfare of a child.  Bond is set at 50,000 dollars.
