WAVERLY, MO – Waverly police have identified two people taken into custody following a high-speed, 55-mile vehicle pursuit this week.
The pursuit Wednesday took place along westbound 24 highway, south on Route O, and west on I-70, past Grain Valley. The driver was identified as Mark Mejia of Sedalia. An occupant from Carrollton, 42 year old Dianna Guevara, was also arrested.
A Waverly officer reportedly attempted a traffic stop for improper registration in front of the elementary school during drop-off hours in the morning around 8 a.m.
Mejia and Guevara are charged with evidence tampering after allegedly throwing drug paraphernalia out the window during the chase. Guevara also allegedly attempted to conceal drugs on her person while she was processed at Lafayette County Jail. Similar charges are filed against Mejia, including resisting arrest.
The chase was also enjoined by Lafayette County Sheriff, police departments in Lexington, Odessa, and Oak Grove, and Missouri Highway Patrol.
