WARRENSBURG, MO – Warrensburg police say scams continue in the area with the return of arrest threats toward residents.
Police say the scam involves threats of arrest that follow claims that the respondent failed to answer a court subpoena. The caller, who also targets businesses, attempts to acquire personal information for clients or employees.
Police say the caller ID spoofs the actual Warrensburg PD number, and actual names of officers are used to convince the potential victim.
The department asks citizens to refrain from providing any information, and contact their office to verify legitimacy.
