JOHNSON COUNTY, MO – A warrant was served Tuesday for a Warrensburg man accused of assault and child endangerment.
A court statement suggests Scott Merriott allegedly shot at law enforcement officers Sunday after they responded to reports of a person making threats using a firearm. Deputies on scene encountered Merriott, who allegedly discharged a .22 caliber rifle toward them, and then fled into the residence. Merriott later exited the building after multiple verbal commands by deputies.
Along with the firearm, drug paraphernalia found on Marriott’s person was seized, indicating methamphetamine use.
Initial appearance is 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. bond is $50,000 cash.
