Another plea hearing for Moberly woman in 2015 assault case

angelica benitezRANDOLPH COUNTY, Mo. – A Randolph County resident accused of attacking a woman with a car and stabbing her will make another appearance for a plea hearing Thursday, August 18, 2016.

Angelica Nicole Benitez, 24, of Moberly, was taken into custody March 15, 2015 on 2 counts of assault in the 1st degree and armed criminal action. She now faces two felony counts of 2nd degree assault, a felony count of armed criminal action and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

Benitez reportedly admitted to the incident, stating after she saw the victim she “lost it” and hit said victim with her vehicle, then exited the vehicle and stabbed the other girl multiple times.

Benitez also reportedly admitted the altercation began because she was upset with the victim over “social media comments,” and the situation “was taken way to far.”

The victim survived the attack, which included a broken leg and several lacerations.

Benitez is currently free on bond, she was instructed to enter a treatment program through Heartland Behavioral Health Services. The hearing begins at 9 a.m.
