JEFFERSON CITY, MO – Numbers reported by Missouri Highway Patrol mark a drastic improvement from the statistics of 2019.
No deaths were reported during the New Year’s holiday by state troopers during the transition into 2020. By contrast, during the same period, last year, 11 fatalities, and 130 arrests were made. This year, the counting period ran from Tuesday evening, to 12 p.m. January 1. Only 56 intoxicated driving incidents were investigated. Crashes investigated were down significantly from the number last year, which was 1,301. That was 18x the number reported for 2020.
