MOBERLY, MO – A Moberly man is in custody suspected of first degree arson during an incident Saturday.

Police responded to an apartment on Reed Street at the behest of the defendant, Brandon L. Moenck, 34, who advised police he wanted someone removed from his apartment. Testimony from the victim in the case alleged that Moenck had attempted to burn down the apartment with her inside. Police found the charred remains of a toilet paper roll in the oven, and a portion of rug that had been burned. Moenck allegedly became irate with officers who attempted to arrest him.

He is formally charged with arson, and resisting arrest.
