BROOKFIELD, Mo. – Murder charges have been filed over the February death of an eleven year old in Brookfield.
A release from the police department says officers responded to an 
unresponsive male juvenile on West Avenue on February 9th. The child was transported to Pershing Memorial Hospital but could not be revived. An autopsy has resulted in the arrest of Darrel L. Royal, 48, and Nancy J. Royal, 50, of Brookfield. Each is charged with Second Degree Murder, Abuse or Neglect of a Child Resulting in Death, Abuse or Neglect Resulting in Serious Physical Injury, Abuse or Neglect of a Child and Endangering the Welfare of a Child in the First Degree.
On Thursday, August 30, the Royals were taken into custody by Brookfield officers on no bond warrants.
