SEDALIA, MO – A man who escaped from state custody Monday has been formally charged in Pettis County.
A warrant was listed Thursday in records, charging Shannon Watts, 34, with escaping from custody, a class B felony. Watts, who is an inmate at Tipton Correctional Center, was on work release at the Missouri State Fair when he escaped. The Pettis County Sheriff says they received information indicating that Watts had been picked up by an unknown person in rural Green Ridge after going missing late Sunday night, August 18, 19. Watts had been serving a 15-year sentence for 1st and 2nd degree burglary, forgery, and assault.
Court dates are pending in Pettis County related to the escaping charge.
